Wesley United Methodist Church has met continually since 1810. Formed from a series of tent meetings held at that time, our church was a key stop on the underground railroad as we helped escaped slaves move to freedom.
Wesley Church’s mission is to reach people with the good news of Jesus and make fully devoted followers of Christ. Our community has supported many overseas missions, sponsored mission trips, provided food pantry services and free meals to those in need, offered Spirit filled ministry to children, youth and families and focused on getting to know our neighbors, lifting them up in prayer while caring for the well-being of all.
We believe in offering inspiring worship through contemporary and traditional forms and pursuing our growth in Christ with passion and patience. As our founder John Wesley might say, “onward to perfection” as we love God with all of our hearts and souls and minds and love our neighbors as ourselves.
In the future, we aspire to build a community based on the following values that will pursue both personal growth and social justice to bring God’s kingdom presence here:
Love: “We graciously invite everyone to participate in this welcoming community.”
Personal Transformation: “We adhere to Biblical truth and our Wesleyan heritage to become more Christ-like.”
Community: “We build authentic relationships while serving in unity.”
Risk Taking: “By faith, we boldly pursue dynamic service and mission.”
Celebration: “We choose Christ’s joy in all we do.”
